Inge Morath was born in Graz, Austria, in 1923. After studying languages in Berlin, she became a translator, then a journalist and the Austrian editor for Heute, an Information Service Branch publication based in Munich. All her life, Morath would remain a prolific diarist and letter-writer. Aldo Buzzi was an Italian writer and architect who was active in Italian cinema circa 1940s-1960s. Buzzi was born in Como, Italy on August 10, 1919. He received an architecture degree from the Politecnico di Milano in 1938 where he met and befriended Romanian-born artist Saul Steinberg.
